Reichert Spends $500,000 of Taxpayer Money on Mailings

Robert Mak at KING 5 reports that

Since the freshman republican took office just 18 months ago, he has sent 21 mass mailings, 1.5 million pieces of mail the cost to taxpayers is now more than a half-million dollars.
You've seen many of the most recent mailings if you live in this district:

"These are the kinds of pieces that you would produce and mail in the last two weeks before an election," said Democratic political consultant Ron Dotzauer.

Dotzauer says it's no longer a simple report from your congressman when the flier is filled with slogans, full-color pictures, and quotes from people thanking their congressman.

"Six, eight, ten, 12 of these in an election cycle? Then I think you've crossed over," Dotzauer said.
I wrote a letter to Congressman Reichert last week about this. After receiving the third of such mailings within a week - 8 DAYS AFTER THE 90 DAY WINDOW BEFORE THE PRIMARY!

Robert Mak reports,

Democrats recently complained that Reichert's last mailing was illegal because fell within 90 days of the upcoming primary.

But Reichert's office today furnished a postmark showing it was sent on the very last day allowed.
Well I can furnish you with an 8x11 mailing that I received on June 28th. It doesn't take that long for mail to get delivered.

It may not be possible to prove that Reichert's franking mailings were illegal, but at over $500,000 spent on them at tax payer's expense, his abuse of this privilege is beyond the pale.
