2005 Neiwert Award Winner - Best Series
Yesterday I received word that I had received the inaugural David Neiwert Award for Best Series.
I'm not much for the concept of awards for writing about political issues, but being mentioned in the company of bloggers I believe are as good as any out there is honor enough, and David Neiwert is very well respected in these parts which only adds to the honor.
The series I was honored for was regarding Washington Republican legislators who supported the transportation bill their party wanted to kill last year through the party's endorsement of I-912, the anti-gas tax initiative that would have eliminated most of the bill's funding but failed to do so at the polls in November by a 9% margin - in small part due to the efforts of bloggers. These were the postings in that series:

The Northwest Progressive Institute which handed out the awards and has a list of all the winners at their NW Portal site, also sited my posting against Snohomish County GOP Chair, Steve Neighbors' pro-I-912 arguments:

I never write in this blog to win awards, I write because I want to address issues with commentary or information that I think might add to the debate and discussion going on "out there". For my voice to be heard amongst the plethora of other bloggers I do need an audience, and if this award helps me garner a few more regular readers then that is one reward I'm happy to receive.
