1001 Ways to Support Darcy Burner

Yesterday Maria Cantwell made a plea for her supporters to also support Darcy Burner in light of the latest attempt by the Bush administration to influence the outcome of the WA-08 race by flying Karl Rove out here to raise money for Dave Reichert.

Before the plea, Darcy's ActBlue numbers were a respectable $40,062.10 from 1675 donations.

In the 21 hours since the Friday afternoon plea went out there have been 1001 donations raising $45,693.51, with $43,754.58 coming through Cantwell's ActBlue page, for a new total of $85,755.61 from 2676 donations!

That's very impressive indeed.

People are turned off by what Karl Rove represents. They want change, and Reichert doesn't represent it when he has Karl Rove fundraising for him. The response to Cantwell's plea for support underscores just how much people are turned off by Rove and Reichert.

Here's a take away quote from the Seattle Times article on Rove's visit:

Diane Lundeen Smith, 38, of Bellevue, said she didn't protest earlier visits by the president and first lady, but that Rove is a hired political operative whose tactics have "served to divide our country."

"Dave Reichert needs to decide: Is he representing the 8th District or is he a rubber stamp [for Bush]?" Lundeen Smith said. "By having Karl Rove here, he just answered that question."
The Burner campaign continues their most recent drive for contributions through Sept 22nd. Please help them by making a donation for a new direction, or volunteering for the campaign in the next couple of months.
