Reichert Ducks and Dodges Questions on KUOW

Dave Reichert was on KUOW Monday morning. He ducked and dodged question after question. When he wasn't doing that he rambled on and on and on. I was able to drive from Redmond to Seattle in the time it took for him to address just two questions! Still, there is so much fodder in this interview it is going to take some time to write about it all.

For now listen to the audio and read Darryl's take on part of it.

Note: I sent in a few questions to Steve Scher, the host of Weekday, to ask, and he asked two of them:
It is my understanding that when congressman Reichert started working in D.C. Republican leaders hand picked his staff. That is odd to me, and creates the suspicion that the staff is more beholden to the party leadership they were selected by, than congressman Reichert.

Why didn’t Dave Reichert pick his own staff?
and
Will Dave Reichert participate in a face to face televised debate with Darcy Burner?
Darryl digs in to the topic of my first question. As for the second question, Reichert makes it clear that he does not intend to engage in a public debate with Darcy Burner, and even indicates just why it isn't a good strategy for an incumbent to expose himself to the possibility of unscripted questions and real discourse about the issue.

More on that in a future post.
