Gregoire Cracks 50% Approval

Governor Gregoire's approval ratings have improved by two percentage points since a poll from five weeks ago.

Survey USA has Gregoire's approval at 50%, picking up two previously undecided percentage points. Since October there has been a progressive upward trend to her approval ratings.

Gregoire has done a good job since her term began and more and more people are starting to recognize that. Last December Lynn Allen at Evergreen Politics conducted an interview with the Governor, and it reveals an agenda that Gregoire is aggressively pursuing, with a no-nonsense get-things-done approach.

She's also taking the message of Washington as an economic partner to the world.

Last month Chinese President Hu visited Washington, before going to D.C.

This month Gregoire has gone to Australia and New Zealand.

Next week she plays host to Mexican president Fox.

These trade missions and presidential visits are raising the profile of Washington State in the global market, and Gregoire's own profile is benefitting from it judging from the latest polling, as it rightfully should.
