Issues and Letters

If you've been wondering why I've made so few posts in the past week plus, part of the reason was that I was out of town, and part of the reason has been that I stupidly upgraded my laptop to Windows XP Pro SP3 yesterday.

Since then I've been dealing with issues related to my Norton Internet Security software, thousands of bogus Registry entries that caused Device Manager to show a blank screen, Norton suddenly terminating my current subscription when I still had 30+ days left on it causing me to have to upgrade, various other anomalies, and the frustrating realization all of this was self-inflicted for no good reason given I had no real need for SP3 in the first place.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been busy on various fronts, (another being rehosting the PNW Topic Hotlist - more on that soon enough), but if you didn't catch it, here's the original wording of a letter I wrote to the PI that they published on Tuesday:
Let me get this straight, by addressing the dire problem of how to responsibly extract this nation from the endless occupation of Iraq, and producing a widely praised plan to do so, Darcy Burner is "playing the Iraq card"? ("Plan to end war may not help Reichert's rival") And somehow because this issue is second to the economy on the minds of voters, that will be a losing formula for her in November? Nevermind the fact the Iraq occupation is sucking billions of dollars out of our economy every day, and therefore an issue that is directly linked to the ability for us to exit the recession, let alone the Middle East. I think voters in the 8th are smart enough to recognize that and to consider that a candidate can campaign on multiple important issues, even while offering more detailed solutions on some of them.
