Those Damn Principles - Always Getting in the Way of Power
A transcript at the New York Times provides the text:
SEN. MCCAIN: On the issue of why we lost the election in 2006 is because we did lose our way.Excuse me?! Did he really say that?
We began to value principle over power, and spending got out of control.
Well yeah, he did: the Republicans lost the election in 2006 because they valued principle over power! If they'd just valued power more they'd have won.
Damn principles, always getting in the way of good ol' reliable power.

Hey Dan, the Aberdeen port protests are heating up. Can you create a topic just for that and write about the coverage on your blog?
I know you focus more on national politics, but this port stuff is huge news because it pulls together grassroots activism, union dockworkers, soldiers, and the bulls*** occupation of Iraq. And this is the third time Washington State has protested this type of business. It will get bigger every time if we publicize it.
Thanks!
[Also - is there a way to just have the topic names come up in the sidebar widget? I keep having to close Idaho and Oregon legislature topics and I could care less about them. Let me know. Thanks!]
I liked the part where McCain said he would follow Osama to the Gates of Hell.
Somehow I think this may be featured in a Democratic ad sometime in the next few months.
I'm not sure the American people are ready to follow McCain on his trip to hell.
This sounds more like a speech that might have been given by Jim Jones to his followers in Guyana, its a little too apocolyptic for me...
