Cantwell, Murray, Boxer Rally for Darcy Burner

Saturday in Bellevue, I attended a rally for Senator Maria Cantwell, featuring Senator Patty Murray, Senator Barbara Boxer, Democratic candidate for WA-08 Darcy Burner, plus Washington State Senator Brian Weinstein, Washington State Rep., and State Senate candidate Rodney Tom, Washington State Rep. Ross Hunter, and former Mayor of Kirkland and Washington State Rep. candidate Deb Eddy.

The rally took place at Bellevue High School and the venue was packed with a standing room only crowd that was energized by all the speakers and their message of a better future and a clear path to getting there.

The state representatives and candidates spoke first and warmed up the crowd. Ross Hunter acted, as usual, as master of ceremonies. Deb Eddy and Rodney Tom both gave passionate speeches about focusing on education and transportation, and the venue was perfect for that. Brian Weinstein urged the crowd to ensure that he had another Democratic partner in the State Senate in Rodney Tom.

Darcy Burner was the beneficiary of the rally as much as Senator Cantwell, who told the audience about her recent plea for donations for Darcy Burner's campaign, which so far has amassed $46,500 in just over 1 day. Cantwell urged supporters to at least make that $50,000, a target sure to be eclipsed soon.

Senators Murray and Boxer were beginning a multi-city tour to talk about their Checklist for Change, a no-nonsense list of nine Democratic priorities designed to offer a positive alternate vision to the Republican do-nothing politics in D.C. Patty Murray explained how the checklist was established as a common-sense approach women could relate to - making a list of things to do and checking them off one by one as they got done - and contrasting that with the diversionary and divisive agenda of the Republican Party.

What follows are a number of other photos and short video clips from the event.
