EMILY's List Endorses Darcy Burner

Breaking news!

EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Darcy Burner for Washington's 8th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. - EMILY's List, the nation's largest grassroots political network and financial resource for women running for elective office, today announced its endorsement of Darcy Burner in her bid for Washington’s 8th Congressional District.

“Darcy Burner is an accomplished businesswoman, an active leader in her community, and a dedicated mother,” said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY’s List. “Darcy knows how to get things done, and I am confident she will represent her district in Washington with the same vigor and integrity that she brought to the high-tech world. This is the Northwest’s most competitive Congressional race, and EMILY’s List will devote its significant energy to ensuring Darcy Burner’s victory. ”

Burner has been consistently successful in her endeavors leading up to her race for Congress. After winning a National Merit Scholarship in high school, she worked in high-tech firms in the Boston area to put herself through Harvard. She graduated with degrees in computer science and economics, and spent 12 years in the high-tech sector adapting services and products to better fit the needs of the customers. In 2000 she took a job as a lead manager with Microsoft.

Burner knows the concerns of the environment, consumer protection, and homeland security are not being met in the 8th Congressional District. In a region that stretches from farmland to suburbs, Burner’s business skills will allow her to understand the needs of her diverse constituents and work to represent them in Congress.

“I know that the support of thousands of EMILY’s List members will prove invaluable to this close race,” said Burner. “The people of Washington deserve better. They need a representative who will stand up against the current Administration and that is why I am running.”

With more than 100,000 members, including over 4,400 in Washington, EMILY's List is the largest political action committee in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has helped elect 61 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 11 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. In only ten election cycles, EMILY's List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices and other key local offices.
The time is ripe for change in Congress, and you can help show your own support for Darcy Burner's campaign by donating to her campaign.
