Making Time To Vote

German and Afghan elections take place today.

Tell me again why Americans don't vote on weekends, and instead have to go to the polls on a work day? Can anyone name another country that doesn't vote on a weekend or national holiday?

The United Kingdom votes on a Thursday.

Italy votes all day Saturday and Sunday (so both Christians and Jews can vote)

As far as changing our voting day, what would it take to change our voting until the weekend? I know that Republicans would object greatly because it would allow the poor to vote, but let's assume we could paint them as the class bigots they are, what would it take?

As long as people are forced to get off their toushes to vote, then I am for it.

Because more people might vote if the vote was held on a weekend, and the current bums in office might get thrown out.

Of course we've been voting on Tuesdays long before the current administration was in office.
