WA Gov Court Case: Day One

This is why we settle legal disputes in court and not the blogosphere or talk radio.

No profanity, no "nyah, nyah, nyah, I told you so", no insults to hide one's ignorance or myopic views, no overbearing know-nothing stating unequivocal righteousness in the factuality of a belief.

Just a simple, incredibly boring at times, presentation of evidence, questioning of witnesses and, in this case, reading of a previously recorded deposition.

Take the GOP's witness, Mr. Dan Brady, testifying as to the nature of documents summarizing the illegal voter files put together by the GOP. As I watched him respond to Jenny Durkan's cross examination, I couldn't help but think how so many unofficial observers (Mr. Brady was an official observer during the counting of election votes) at SoundPolitics.com would have responded to the same questions. Where Mr. Brady went out of his way to try to portray himself as someone without knowledge of processes and procedures, to protect himself from becoming an expert witness on the matters in question, the SoundPolitics rabble would have been claiming absolute knowledge on all such matters.

No, here, in a court of law, you speak under oath. To tell a lie is perjury. You get in a whole bunch of trouble for that.

In the blogosphere and talk radio it is all bluster and bravado. He who shouts loudest is what matters. Anonymity rules. Ignore reasonable comments or input if it is inconvenient or undermines your point of view.

Today in Chelan nothing happened that will decide this case one way or another. Others may try to put a spin on events that allow them to attempt to claim victory, but don't be fooled into thinking it is anything but spin. From either side.

Tomorrow may be different. Judge Bridges may make a ruling regarding the ability of the Rossi camp to make this a case of election fraud. Given the fact their felon case has next to no chance in convincing the judge to annul the election, fraud is the GOP's only chance. So if they cannot make a case based on fraud, it seems unclear what kind of case, if any, they have to make.

Stay tuned! (nwphtt48)

Thanks for reporting straight up that the judge makes the final call on fraud.

After last week, I think he should allow it.

Moreover, because of the man-made Mt. St. Helens-esque disaster in King County Elections, a re-vote is probably the only best option at this point.

Had King County Elections been able to track all ballots like banks track all dollars - I may have accepted the result.
